Jane Gray - Playing with Rainbows
In this lavishly illustrated book, Jane Gray tells of her life with stained glass. Beginning at the Kingston School of Art, she moved to the Royal College of Art where she met Lawrence Lee. That led on to her becoming his assistant and to the opportunity to work on the enormously high nave windows for the new Coventry Cathedral. From there Jane moved into the precarious world of designing and making her own windows. Describing her work as 'modern medieval', she explains how she follows traditional techniques in the production of her windows.
The colourful vibrancy of Jane Gray's work has led to many commissions, both sacred and secular, and to the honour of being the first woman stained glass window artist to become a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.
